Woodworking for Adults is intended to provide woodworking opportunities for adults of all skill levels. All participants are asked to come to the first class with one or more project ideas. Project ideas can be provided to allow for the teaching of specific skills. If you are a beginning woodworker, it may be beneficial to begin your experience with a small, simple project.
Participants will receive instructions on the safe and proper use of the tools and equipment as well as information regarding some common techniques used to create various projects.
The class consists of seven sessions. The first session is a planning session. Participants will receive assistance as needed to plan a project and order materials, if necessary. The remaining six sessions are for project construction.
Participants will receive instruction on tools and techniques as needed. Other class members will often share their knowledge as well. If help is needed for gluing up pieces or cutting large parts and I am not available at that time, there will likely be someone that is willing to assist. The primary tools that are used in the shop are the table saw, sliding compound miter saw, band saw, jointer, and router. If some other tools or techniques are of interest, please make these known.
Class times:
1st planning session – 6:30 to 8 p.m. (or longer if needed) – January 17, 2024
6 working nights – Wednesdays, 6:30 to 9 p.m., beginning January 24, 2024
Class Registration Fee: $75 plus materials needed for projects. Participants may bring their own materials or they may purchase needed supplies through instructor or the club.
Inclement Weather: Process will be decided by class at the first meeting. If a work night is canceled, the class time will be made up at a later date. Any changes made to the schedule will be done with the consent of the class participants. If in doubt, please contact Dean Clasen.
The shop will be open at 6:20 p.m. so that work can start at 6:30. Clean-up begins at 8:50 p.m.
Safety glasses and hearing protection are available for your use but you are welcome to bring your own.
Storage space is limited but should be adequate for most projects
